In una dichiarazione congiunta, riportata di seguito anche in lingua inglese, CGIL e FILT CGIL manifestano il loro pieno supporto ai camionisti iraniani in sciopero, impegnati da oltre una settimana in una vasta protesta che coinvolge 125 città.

La CGIL e la FILT CGIL esprimono solidarietà ai camionisti in sciopero in Iran, che da oltre una settimana stanno protestando in 125 città e 30 province del Paese. Questa mobilitazione, insieme agli scioperi e alle manifestazioni spesso represse con violenza e sangue negli ultimi anni, è un chiaro segnale della profonda sofferenza del popolo iraniano.

Una sofferenza che deriva anzitutto dalla privazione delle libertà fondamentali – in particolare nei confronti delle donne – ma anche dal continuo peggioramento delle condizioni economiche.
Le rivendicazioni dei camionisti riguardano l’aumento del prezzo del carburante e dei premi assicurativi, la pessima condizione delle infrastrutture, nonché le gravi criticità legate alle condizioni di lavoro e ai salari, ormai divenute inaccettabili.

Condanniamo con fermezza la reazione del regime iraniano, che ha arrestato attivisti e camionisti e ha fatto uso della forza per reprimere le proteste, confermandosi come uno dei più sanguinari regimi autoritari al mondo.

Proprio in questi giorni, durante la 113ª Conferenza Internazionale del Lavoro in corso a Ginevra, la Repubblica Islamica dell’Iran è nuovamente sotto scrutinio da parte dell’Organizzazione Internazionale del Lavoro (OIL) per la violazione della Convenzione C111.
Inoltre, il Global Rights Index della Confederazione Sindacale Internazionale, pubblicato il 2 giugno, ha inserito ancora una volta l’Iran tra i peggiori Paesi al mondo in materia di diritti del lavoro.

Nel ribadire la nostra piena solidarietà ai camionisti in sciopero e a tutte le lavoratrici e i lavoratori iraniani che, sfidando leggi repressive, continuano a protestare e a scioperare, rinnoviamo il nostro impegno nella difesa dei diritti umani, dello Stato di diritto, della democrazia e del lavoro dignitoso in Iran, in Italia e in tutto il mondo.

Solidarity with truck drivers on strike in Iran

The CGIL and FILT CGIL express solidarity with the truck drivers on strike in Iran, who have been protesting for over a week in 125 cities and 30 provinces of the country. This mobilization, together with the strikes and demonstrations often repressed with violence and blood in recent years, is a clear sign of the profound suffering of the Iranian people.

A suffering that derives first and foremost from the deprivation of fundamental freedoms – especially towards women – but also from the continuous worsening of economic conditions.

The truck drivers' demands concern the increase in the price of fuel and insurance premiums, the terrible condition of the infrastructure, as well as the serious critical issues related to working conditions and wages, which have now become unacceptable.

We firmly condemn the reaction of the Iranian regime, which has arrested activists and truck drivers and used force to repress the protests, confirming itself as one of the bloodiest authoritarian regimes in the world.

Right now, during the 113th International Labour Conference underway in Geneva, the Islamic Republic of Iran is once again under scrutiny by the International Labour Organization (ILO) for violating Convention C111.

The Global Rights Index of the International Trade Union Confederation, published on June 2, has once again included Iran among the worst countries in the world in terms of labour rights.

In reiterating our full solidarity with the striking truck drivers and all Iranian workers who, defying repressive laws, continue to protest and strike, we renew our commitment to defending human rights, the rule of law, democracy and decent work in Iran, Italy and throughout the world.
